Cheers and 73 Art W1SWLįrom: W1SWL Sent: 17 November 2021 17:17 To: Subject: Suggestions for Logging Software with FTDX101MP 8-) I am now retired for 10 years and have decided to "get back into" Ham radio. And yes I still have a ponytail, (which back then, a good 80% of professional broadcast engineers had) but have given up the pocket protector. All of the major networks were my clients. I specialized in high performance UNIX computing, and storage, especially in the broadcast TV & Radio vertical markets. As background: I am a retired computer systems engineer having worked for IBM, DEC, COMPAQ, HP and EMC/Dell over my long career. I will probably use Logbook of the world. I am certain that if there are 5 amateurs who answer, there will be 6 or more different suggestions. I know asking such a broad set of question(s) is probably asking for trouble but all information is good as far as I am concerned. (a sH^%load of ground rods is NOT fun to drive down I am glad that task is behind me). Yesterday I just finished the ingress of coax to the house and the bonded grounding system to the various ground rods and a long run to the electrical service ground rods with ground rods about every 12 feet along the way. BTW, just passed my General so the ham shack is being set up along with antennas, coax, ground bonding and you name it. Two mice? One for the laptop and the other for the transceiver display? One keyboard for the logging suite of software. one for the FTDX101MP direct attached to the transceiver and the other for the logging laptop and attached to it. The plan is to have two display screens active. Advice on memory, disk space and anything else (like Windows OS support) would be graciously appreciated. This laptop would be 100% devoted only to the ham shack for logging. It appears the laptop would need at least 2 USB ports, wifi and bluetooth. Essentially I would use the laptop as a keyboard and USB hub. Do any of you here use the DXLab Suite of software? How well (easy and trouble free) does it integrate with the FTDX101 family of Yaesu transceivers? Also is there some other suite of software that I would be advised to consider BEFORE making a decision? I have to procure a laptop and would like to drive a larger monitor, so a laptop with a removable screen would be most desirable. That said, in looking around for logging software there seems to be a suite of software called DXLab which is Windows based. I am a long time MAC user so from what I gather, I am best advised to get a Windows laptop for logging and perhaps even control. Since I am mostly into digital modes (PSK31), I need a program to assist me with that. Of course, we should use our Macs and iDevices for that. I noticed there are several hams (amateur radio operators) here on the forums.

SOS performs high end ERP software functions at a highly affordable price range that make it easy for any small business to take that first step towards better ecommerce inventory management. SOS Inventory software is unique in its ability to maintain coherent data across multiple locations, whether tracking product just received, in production, or at any warehouse. When product quantities vary because information about the product isn’t updated in real-time as it moves from one workflow to another, your business could risk stockouts, dead stock, lost sales, and lower profitability. When product is stored at different locations, for example, having a central database track total quantities as product moves in and out of different facilities is a big advantage over working with data segregated on spreadsheets. Highly functional inventory management software for ecommerce is the means to managing all product details and costs from end to end for the most thorough control over business expenses and decisions. At times, the key to on-time fulfillment is having strategic warehouse locations or a 3pl solution in place. What is unique to ecommerce is the ability to operate as a fully functional store without necessarily having a physical brick-and-mortar location. Ecommerce inventory management entails the balance of product type, quantity, and cost for the greatest profitability of online sales. Part I will focus on the substantive criteria for the collection and use of signals intelligence. This two-part series will examine how the executive order impacts privacy rights. Only fundamental reform by Congress can solve that problem. That’s a problem, not only for the viability of the new U.S.-EU agreement, but for the privacy rights of Americans who get swept up in foreign intelligence surveillance. However, the scope of permissible surveillance remains far too broad-indeed, the executive order expressly permits bulk collection of signals intelligence. The creation of a hybrid governmental-private court to hear foreign nationals’ claims of unlawful surveillance is particularly significant. The executive order attempts to cure that defect by extending greater privacy protections to foreign nationals.ĭoes the order succeed? The main suspects behind Usoyan's murder are Tariel Oniani and Rovshan Janiev. The day Usoyan was shot dead, an Armenian crime fiction writer, Sergey Galoyan, said in a conversation with a local news website that the mafia king's murder might be linked to a certain unrest in the criminal world, particularly the construction of the Sochi Olympic facilities which are said to have attracted considerable investments. His death was thought to be likely to spur chaos in the criminal world. The family decided to fly Usoyan's body to be buried in his native Tbilisi, but the Tbilisi International Airport refused to accept the plane. On 16 January 2013 and a month before his 76th birthday, Usoyan was shot in the head by a sniper perched on the sixth floor of an adjacent apartment building after leaving a restaurant which served as his office, and despite efforts of his bodyguards and ambulance workers he died en route to the hospital. It was assumed that Usoyan, an ethnic Kurd, was one of the weapon suppliers to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) that is fighting an armed struggle against the Turkish state for an autonomous Kurdistan and cultural and political rights for the Kurds in Turkey. It has been speculated that the so-called circle is a stand-in for Usoyan's network. In the early 2010s the Obama administration placed sanctions on members of the alleged criminal organisation the Brothers' Circle. It was at first announced to the press that Usoyan had died to ensure his safety. On 16 September 2010, Usoyan was shot by a 9 mm calibre bullet fired by an unidentified assailant in central Moscow, but survived the attack along with his bodyguard who was also wounded. His business in Ukraine was allegedly connected to a rift with an Armenian organized crime group. In April 2010, Usoyan was arrested by Ukrainian security forces after entering the country illegally using false documents. Although he did not attend, Usoyan sent an elaborate wreath to Ivankov's funeral saying "To our brother from Grandpa Hassan". He was however shot by a sniper while leaving a Moscow restaurant in July 2009, and died of his wounds in October that year. Vyacheslav Ivankov was brought in to mediate the conflict, in which he sided with Usoyan's faction. He later gave an interview to a newspaper, denying the stories of escalating violence and stated that "We are a peaceful people and don't bother anybody, we are for peace in order to prevent lawlessness". Usoyan was not however amongst those detained. In July 2008 police raided Oniani's yacht as a meeting took place amongst the criminal leaders in an attempt to settle the conflict. Several of Usoyan's top lieutenants were killed including the Armenian national Alek Minalyan, a man allegedly in charge of extorting construction firms working on the 2014 Winter Olympics. Starting in 2007, Usoyan was embroiled in a gang war with Georgian mobster Tariel Oniani, who was seeking to reestablish himself in Moscow. According to The Economist, he was "reputed to be Russia's mafia boss". Aslan Usoyan ( Georgian: ასლან უსოიანი, Russian: Асла́н Раши́дович Усоя́н 27 February 1937 – 16 January 2013), also known as Baba Gurgur and Grandpa Hassan ( "Дед Хасан" Ded Hasan) or just Grandpa ( "Дедушка"), was a mafia boss, an ethnic Kurdish mobster and thief in law, who began his career operating in Georgia and Kurdistan, continued in Moscow, Ural, Siberia, Uzbekistan, Krasnodar, Sochi, and other parts of the former Soviet Union. It took until 2009 before the British government gave out a medal to the veterans, saying “We also served”. But it is also a dramatic story of people who were not allowed to say what they were doing for the war effort. It is a war story were human willpower is used to save people, not to make more destructive bombs. It is an inspiring story about a problem of massive complexity directly affecting the lives of thousands of people and the course of the war. National Cryptographic Museum by Austin Mills Photograph of an Enigma machine, taken in the After the war Churchill said the code breakers shortened the war by two years. This made it possible to read the instructions for the German U-boats and change the routes of convoys travelling from the US to the UK, saving thousands of lives. Alan Turing and others helped improve a Polish design for an electronic machine that could automate the cracking (the same Turing en passant invented the computer). Polish mathematicians found a way of cracking the code and just before the Germans invaded Poland their knowledge was transferred to the British. Still, the Enigma was cracked… even before the war broke out. That sounds like a lot – and it is! The encryption of an internet connection is usually 16 or 32 bit. The Germans thought the machine to be unbreakable because it has 10^23 settings, in modern terms this would be called 77-bit encryption. The sender used the machine to convert plain German into apparent gibberish and the receiver could only convert it back to plain German if the correct settings were used. Resources Background of the Enigma coding machineīefore and during the Second World War the German military communicated using the Enigma encryption machine. The most popular type of storyboard is called a “scene board.” This type illustrates one individual scene at a time rather than an entire sequence of events.īefore we jump in, what is storyboarding? There are many different types of storyboards, with a few popular ones listedd below: These images can be used as guidance for the production crew and filmmakers to know what will happen in each scene. Storyboard software, or storyboarding tools, are programs that allow individuals to create a series of images that illustrate the planning for a film. Storyboarding software can be a powerful tool for illustrating story ideas and presenting them to others. With the help of this application, you can use your computer to produce drawings quickly on screen without having to draw by hand. Storyboarding software is a type of multimedia software that allows you to create storyboards for animation, comics, and films. And on Thursday, April, 20, you can also join us on a community live session on YouTube.BEST STORYBOARD SOFTWARE What Is Storyboarding Software? You can sign up for the beta of Firefly and join the conversation on Discord. In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you and learn more about what you are looking to see with Adobe Firefly and generative AI across our applications. Starting later this year, we’ll begin introducing new generative AI features for video, audio, animation and motion graphics design. Creative assistants and co-pilots: With personalized generative AI-powered “how-tos,” users can master new skills and accelerate processes from initial vision to creation and editing.Powerful script and B-roll capabilities: Creators can dramatically accelerate pre-production, production and post-production workflows using AI analysis of script to text to automatically create storyboards and previsualizations, as well as recommending b-roll clips for rough or final cuts.Stunning fonts, text effects, graphics, and logos: With a few simple words and in a matter of minutes, creators can generate subtitles, logos and title cards and custom contextual animations.Advanced music and sound effects: Creators can easily generate royalty-free custom sounds and music to reflect a certain feeling or scene for both temporary and final tracks. With a simple prompt like “Make this scene feel warm and inviting,” the time between imagination and final product can all but disappear. Text to color enhancements: Change color schemes, time of day, or even the seasons in already-recorded videos, instantly altering the mood and setting to evoke a specific tone and feel. To start, we’re exploring a range of concepts, including: Imagine the power to instantly change the time of day of a video, automatically annotate and find relevant b-roll, or create limitless variations of clips - all as a starting point of your creativity. And with generative AI integrated directly into your workflows, these powerful new capabilities will be right at your fingertips. With Firefly as a creative co-pilot, you can supercharge your discovery and ideation processes and cut post-production time from days to minutes. This is why we’re excited to invent and innovate with the video and audio community to make it easier and faster for you to transform your vision into reality. And, insatiable demand, multiplying channels, and globally distributed teams make it extra challenging to scale the production of high-quality creative work efficiently. We are truly in the golden age of video - short-form video is ubiquitous in news, social media, and entertainment. The benefit of this approach was that this allowed for 3D animation far in advance of what any real-time engine could do at the time, and a few games even did it with enough style to thrive. These games worked, in the loosest possible sense, by playing a video on the screen and pasting your character, enemies and explosions over the top. This being a Sega CD game originally though, it should come as very little surprise to anyone who's ever seen games on that system that creators Rocket Science Games (named after what they clearly weren't, as with all subsidiaries of its parent company Games Worth Playing Inc.) opted to make an FMV shooter instead. Sadly, however, despite the shows great animation, great characters, and original ideas, it never got the chance it deserved to make television history. There are cool things you could do in a world where people drive around in a Cadillac and also there are dinosaurs. It was a pity it only lasted 13 episodes, yet even with just 13 they still managed to portray a very, very richly detailed world with a huge amount of potential. For example, how did the cars manage to survive for over 600 years or so without decaying down into nothingness? Or the ruins still containing something usable after being neglected for that long? Naturally I'm not being fair when I say these things, and this is a general problem and not a specific one to the cartoon. There are some flaws in the show, but nothing that isn't present in any other post-apocalyptic setting. So Jack and Scharnhorst tread a thin line as opposed to being like Duke Igthron and the Gummi Bears. She isn't always the ultimate bad guy, is even willing to negotiate and even HELP Jack at times because they would both benefit from it, and adheres to the law of the city even she doesn't like it at times (putting crooks who tried to bust on Jack, for example, in jail in one episode). Again, how people in Real Life would push their agenda against whatever possible consequences it might have, take credit for other people's work, and try to legally humiliate and do away with the people they hate? Too many to count, and Scharnhorst is just that. She's just an bigot who has beliefs contrary to Tanrec and is less ethical than him. Scharnhorst is NOT a vile, evil mistress that wants to kill all kittens, enslave the people, and whip them day and night for the heck of it. The relationship between Scharnhorst and Jack is, IMHO, the single most maturely done hero-villain relationship that was ever shown in a cartoon series. Nothing like a cartoon norm, they act precisely like poachers in RL with the same motivations and the same reasons to hate the hero as real poachers hate the guys who stop them. They hate Jack because he constantly foils their work. So what's going on with these guys? The poachers are precisely that, poachers, they hunt illegally and sell the stuff on the black market for profit. What about the opposition? There are two main enemies that are frequently brought up, the governor of the City, Scharnhorst, a group of poachers, and some other one-time bad guys. He's flawed, does and says stupid things. His relationship with Hanna, a diplomat and scientist from another 'tribe' is also similar to some love-hate relationships that occur in RL (minus any real abuse, of course). He the good guy, but rarely does anything that's too unbelievable or fantasy like to be dismissed. Jack Tenrec is a mechanic who believes that nature needs to be considered when doing any kind of development or action, and delivers this message, both in words and style, exactly how a person would do it in RL. as well as having the motivation of 'just being evil'. Most shows then and now would have a villain who's so evil you'd think he was the devil's incarnate or is practically oozing with slime and sin. Nor did it have any bona fide villains either. it wasn't a show about weird adventures, it wasn't slapstick comedy, it didn't have a hero who was so good and heroic that he glows awesome wherever he walks and causes people to cheer out in frenzy every time he says something. Which brings up the best points of the show. Despite the usual action scenes that are found in all shows, there's nothing really fantasy-like or too 'out there' by any of the characters on the show. They never actually mention what that disaster or event was explicitly, but only provide tiny snips of it to tease the audience, leaving them all wondering just WHAT happened and, more importantly, where did all those dinosaurs come from? The animation quality was top-notched and the voice acting was very well done, and the characters were very likable and believable to boot. To briefly explain the show, this was about a post-apocalyptic group of people, surviving after a disaster that happened several hundred years before the show's timeline. |
